getting ready for the holidays :)

I cannot WAIT until Christmas. Living on a tropical island this time of year where the temperature drops to a low 65 degrees at night does not exactly bring about the same Holiday spirit as if I were on the mainland. In an effort to change this, Dana and I spent the day cleaning and listening to holiday music and then decorating the house with Christmas decorations =) To the right is our mini tree that has replaced the spot our television (that we never watch) used to sit. We put a big red bow on the door, got a yummy smelling wreath for the coffee table & some x-mas lights to hang on our lanai. The countdown to Christmas begins... but really the date I am most looking forward to is December 23rd when I will be back in Hollister and surrounded by Ohana (Note to dad: please have fireplace ready!)

What did you put in the Tofurkey?

Meet Walter Topper....My new traveling buddy.
Born: November 25th, 2002
Place: Kenya, East Africa
Hobbies include; swimming in the watering hole, chasing after gazelles, watching butterflies, yoga, playing harmonica, and President and active member of Leaf Lovers Association.

Tonight Walter joined Dana, Jeff & I for Thanksgiving dinner. (Ya, my 2nd... in a slight food coma as I am writing this) Major difference- Tonight's dinner was all vegan... complete with Tofurkey! With low expectations for the tofurkey- we were all pleasantly surprised at how it tasted.... even though it kinda looked like a brain. Jeff made an amazing pumpkin pie for desert with raisins, walnuts, coconut, cinnamon, and banana with a side of organic/gluten free/dairy-free vanilla ice cream to cap off my two day eating fest. Cheers to the holidays!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my Godson Drew! I cannot believe it was 3 years ago I was driving to Visalia to be there the moment he came into this world =)

"Love is as love does. Love is an act of will--namely, both an intention and an action. Will also implies choice. We do not have to love. We choose to love. Everything that happens in life is there to aid our spiritual growth. The truth is that our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers." - Scott Peck

Couch Surfing:
A worldwide network for making connections between travelers and the local communities they visit.

In essence- This prodigious international non-profit allows hosts to meet people from all over the world while never leaving their house and allows "surfers" (travelers) the experience of participating in local lifestyle of the places they visit.

Couch Surfing's Vision: "A world where everyone can explore and create meaningful connections with the people and places they encounter."

As of yesterday I am now a proud and, hopefully soon, participating, member of the Couch surfing community!

*Mom- I know you're freaking out... Check the website to ease your worries. http://www.couchsurfing.org/

Also noteworthy: My ears have been pleased by the sounds of John Mayer's new album: Battle Studies. His lyrics never cease to satisfy and provoke proving his immense talent as a songwriter. Personal favorites include:

*Heartbreak Warfare

*Edge of Desire

*Assassin

Inspiration is everywhere as long as your eyes and heart are open to receive it. My inspiration came in the form of my chai tea latte this morning. Printed on the tea bag were these words:
"Let your manners speak, your deeds prove, and your delivery impress."
